Trelleborg’s offshore facility based in Skelmersdale is being upgraded to include a new testing facility that will house two state-of-the-art hyperbaric test chambers. The new equipment will be able to simulate extreme deepwater pressure conditions, enabling accurate testing of subsea and drilling equipment. Hyperbaric testing is the only way to effectively simulate deep water conditions and to confirm the reliability of product in deep subsea environments.
Principal Contractor Eric Wright Civil Engineering Ltd appointed PaSCoE to design the reinforced concrete pad foundations for a new portal frame building and associated ground bearing floor slab. In additional to the permanent works design PaSCoE undertook the stability assessment of the 1000 tonne crane which was required to lift the pressure vessel into the shaft, together with an assessment of the effects of the outrigger loading on the stability of the shaft.
