News » Thameslink Tight Squeeze

The Thameslink Programme is a £6 billion project to upgrade and expand the Thameslink rail network to provide new and longer trains between a wider range of stations to the north and to the south of London. Work includes platform lengthening, station remodelling, new railway infrastructure, and additional rolling stock. Work started in 2009 and is expected to be complete in 2018.

PaSCoE have been providing a range of temporary works design services to the scheme, the latest being the design of a 800te crane lift for new signal gantries at London Bridge.

The built up area at the proposed crane location meant the impact from the crane outrigger loads had to be carefully managed. This included stress distribution analysis, impact assessments on Thames Water assets, structural impact analysis and bearing capacity analysis.
