PaSCoE has secured a contract to provide full time on site temporary works design assistance to the Costain Laing O’Rourke JV on the new tunnelling works and station improvements at Bond Street Station.
Tunnelling works comprise the construction of new lift shafts, an inclined escalator barrel, station passage and concourse tunnels, and stairs. The majority of the tunnelling works are being carried using sprayed concrete linings (SCL). When space constraints from the very close proximity of the tunnelling to the existing station structures prevented the use of SCL then traditional formwork construction is used. New overbridges over the Central and Jubilee Line platform tunnels have been constructed in both traditional construction and a hybrid construction.
By 2017 Bond Street station will be served by both London Underground and Crossrail and will be a key gateway to the West End. More than 155,000 passengers use the existing Tube station daily. When Crossrail arrives, passenger numbers are anticipated to grow to over 225,000, daily.
